Frost & Sullivan Names Panasonic Toughbook® 30 as 2008 North American Mobility Award Recipient for Rugged Notebook Computers

Business Wire, March 11, 2008

SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Panasonic Computer Solutions Company, manufacturer of durable, reliable Panasonic Toughbook[R] mobile computers, today announced that Frost & Sullivan's Mobility Awards Committee recognized Panasonic Computer Solutions Company (PCSC) with the 2008 Mobility Award for its Panasonic Toughbook 30 rugged notebook computer.

The Panasonic Toughbook 30 is MIL-STD-810F-tested for ruggedness, and is designed from the inside out with durability built into every seal, hinge, and connector. Encased in magnesium alloy, and featuring a moisture- and dust-resistant LCD, sealed port and connector covers, and integrated wireless broadband, the Toughbook 30 is designed to withstand the most extreme circumstances.

"The Panasonic Toughbook line of computers has long been known as a leader in ruggedized computing," said James Brehm, senior consultant and director of business development, Frost & Sullivan. "With IT managers charged with being increasingly fiscally responsible, the Toughbook 30 provides laptop buyers with a durable solution that decreases TCO and lengthens the device lifecycle."

"Mission-critical workers in military, government, public safety and commercial applications often are placed in extreme environments that require a high level of durability and connectivity to achieve the productivity their organizations demand," said Kyp Walls, director of product management, Panasonic Computer Solutions Company. "Creating a rugged laptop that reliably meets these demands while still delivering a high-performance computing experience takes an enormous investment in research, development, engineering, testing and customer input. Having Panasonic's 15 year history of manufacturing robust mobile computers recognized by Frost & Sullivan as a higher standard is extremely gratifying."

In addition to Panasonic's rugged Toughbook 30 clamshell PC and Toughbook 19 Convertible tablet PC for extreme environments, Panasonic manufactures a range of reliable mobile computing solutions for business and government users for whom reliable data access is critical to their performance. In November 2007, Panasonic introduced three new business-rugged notebook computers - the ultraportable Toughbook W7, the tablet alternative Toughbook T7, and the thin-and-light Toughbook Y7 - all designed to meet the demands of mobile executives, walking workers and road warriors.
