Sands Research to Demonstrate Real-Time Brain Imaging at the 2008 Clio Festival in South Beach

Business Wire,  March 14, 2008

Dr. Steve Sands to Compare Neuro Marketing Research Findings with Judges' Picks for the Finalists in the TV/Cinema/Digital, Print, Interactive, and Radio Categories

NEW YORK & EL PASO, Texas -- Sands Research and the Clio Awards, a division of the Nielsen Company, announced today that the companies will be conducting neuro marketing research at the 2008 Clio Festival, May 14-17 at the Gansevoort South Hotel in South Beach. The Clios are the world's most recognized global awards competition for advertising, design, and interactive.

Prior to the festival, Sands Research will review the 2007 short listed creative work in four categories: Television/Cinema, Print, Interactive, and Radio. Sands Research will be presenting their research findings at the festival.

For the 2008 Television/Cinema/Digital and Interactive categories, Sands Research will have a live subject demonstration set-up at the Clio Festival. A subject will be exposed to the finalists' advertisements while wearing a cap with electrodes linked to electroencephalography (EEG) equipment. Brain activity will be measured and recorded in millisecond increments to determine which ads elicit the strongest response. Festival attendees can view all testing in real-time during the event.

Furthermore, Sands Research will be conducting live neuromedia analysis on creative work for 2008 finalists in the Television/Cinema/Digital category at the Clio Festival using a "live subject" EEG. Dr. Stephen F. Sands, President and Founder of Sands Research, will be presenting these results along with research findings for 2007 finalists.

"We are delighted to be approached by Nielsen Research to be the first company to conduct a neuromarketing demonstration at the Clio Festival" said Dr. Sands. "This year's festival will be historic in that it will be the first time that a live audience at the event will be able to witness first-hand the physiological effects of advertising on their brains'."

"The Clio Festival is an annual celebration of creativity and ideas" said Tony Gulisano, managing director of the Clio Awards. "We are excited to have Sands Research demonstrate their innovative analysis of Clio Award winners at this year's event."
