Central Business District Fiber Network Provides Attractive Alternative for Enterprise and Carrier Customers
HERNDON, Va. -- RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation and a premier provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, announced the launch of its newest major metropolitan market of Philadelphia. RCN Metro Optical Networks just completed the build of a fiber ring encompassing over 3,000 fiber miles located in Center City, Philadelphia. This gives RCN Metro a robust footprint and capabilities right in the heart of the Central Business District of Philadelphia.
"We are excited to complete this significant fiber build and be open for business in one of the best markets in the world," said Felipe Alvarez, President of RCN Metro Optical Networks.
RCN Metro now offers Philadelphia-based businesses and service providers reliable transport for their mission critical data and applications within this region as well as throughout the RCN Metro network. This expansion is being driven by customer demand for alternative carriers who can offer highly reliable services deployed over a network that is diverse from other carriers' networks and which is supported by exceptional operational infrastructure and customer service teams. RCN Metro is already placing customers on this newly launched network.
"RCN Metro has served the greater Philadelphia metro area for many years, and this latest investment demonstrates our continued commitment to provide high quality broadband services to this market," said Richard Beville, Regional Director of RCN Metro Optical Networks.
RCN Metro's complete set of products is now available in the Philadelphia market, ranging from Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) enabled Metro Ethernet services to SONET and Wavelength services, IP transport, and Network Management services.
