ALM's The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel Win Five Neal Journalism Awards

Neal National Business Journalism Awards in their respective revenue categories. Approximately 100 finalists were selected from thousands of entries. Established in 1955, the Neal Awards recognize and reward editorial excellence in business-to-business publications and are considered the industry's most prestigious editorial honors.

The American Lawyer won in four of the five categories for which it had been named a finalist. It was named the winner in the "Best Single Article" category (Classification "C") for March's "Miami Heat," analyzing the successes and flaws of Miami law firm Greenberg Traurig; " for "Best Single Theme or Special Issue of a Magazine or Newspaper/News Tabloid" for its "2007 Litigation Special," featuring analysis of 440 significant corporate fraud prosecutions and an assessment of the state of white-collar prosecution and defense; for "Best Department" for its "Bar Talk" section; and for "Best Single Issue of a Magazine" for the magazine's December issue, featuring a path breaking cover report on the end of mass tort cases and a report on how the best-known lawyer in Silicon Valley became ensnared in scandal.

Corporate Counsel was named winner of the "Best Single Article" category (Classification "B") for "Saw No Evil," a January 2007 story analyzing the actions of Hewlett-Packard's former general counsel Ann Baskins, who resigned following the HP spying scandal.
