LEX On Demand Introduces Enhanced Lotus Notes Processing using its Notes Monster Software powered by Deep Extraction Techniques

Business Wire, March 25, 2008

WASHINGTON -- LEX On Demand, a provider of E-Discovery Solutions to legal and corporate communities today announced the release of an enhanced Lotus Notes NSF processing capability that makes use of its Deep Extraction Methodology and proprietary Notes Monster Software.

Discovery of Lotus Notes NSF files can presents a challenge for many reasons. A common approach is to convert the NSFs to PSTs. Unfortunately, this can create additional problems, including the loss of data and malformed images. Even where the EDD software in use processes NSFs natively, it often addresses the NSF as if it was an email store, extracting only a limited subset of metadata, relying on standard views. The end result can leave both documents and information unprocessed.

Realizing these issues from its long experience dealing with NSF files, LEX On Demand has developed its third-generation of Notes Processing tools using a new methodology it has termed "Deep Extraction". Deep Extraction mines files for their complete metadata load: standard and non-standard, treating a class of file types uniquely rather than adopting a conventional cookie cutter, standard fields approach.

Using Deep Extraction Techniques, LEX On Demand has constructed its Notes Monster Software which extracts all metadata from an NSF file: email or application, and enables all or a subset to be packaged into a load file, as required, together with renditions of the messages in PDF, TIFF, HTML or text formats. In addition, a series of reports can be provided through a secure area on the LEX On Demand web site enabling the underlying metadata to be reviewed and mined. Above all, customers using the service will have the security of knowing that no documents are inadvertently left unprocessed and no information is discarded unseen.

Says Moin Peera, LEX On Demand's Director of Technology, "What excites me is the amount of relevant information that can be discovered by truly understanding the non-standard metadata found in Lotus Notes NSF files."

"We are very pleased to be able to offer this enhanced NSF processing solution to our Law Firm and Corporate Customers," says Dave Tomashefski, President of LEX On Demand. "It is another instance of LEX's responsiveness to customer needs and demonstrates our ability to provide unique eDiscovery services through the innovative use of technology."
