Former NASA Aerospace Education Coordinator to open doors of DeVry's newest Southern California location on March 25

PALMDALE, Calif. -- DeVry University and its Keller Graduate School of Management has appointed Kimberly Irizarry as center dean of its new Palmdale location. DeVry University's newest Southern California location is located at 38256 Sierra Highway in the Palmdale Civic Center complex and is expected to officially open its doors to welcome students for enrollment today.

Irizarry has strong ties to the Lancaster and Palmdale communities, residing in the area most of her life. She has experience working with numerous technical agencies including Oklahoma State University's NASA Aerospace Education Services Program in Palmdale, where she worked prior to being appointed center dean at DeVry. As a coordinator with the NASA program for nearly three years, she built and operated a Digital Learning Network, developing learning modules based on national standards to teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) courses used nationwide.

"Kimberly did a tremendous job exciting school kids about science and math with the Digital Learning Network while working for NASA Dryden," said Kim Shaw, president, AERO Institute. "I am sure she will bring that same level of enthusiasm to help successfully establish the new DeVry campus in Palmdale, and we are very pleased to continue to collaborate with her at the AERO Institute."

As DeVry University Palmdale Center Dean, Irizarry's strong connections to the area will play a significant role as she works closely with the community in building the DeVry University brand and creating awareness of the new campus in the Antelope Valley area.

Irizarry received her Master's of Arts Degree in Education/Curriculum at University of Phoenix, Arizona and a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer information Systems from DeVry Institute of Technology, now known as DeVry University at Irving, Texas. She graduated from Antelope Valley High School and taught Computer Technology at Antelope Valley Christian School. In addition, Irizarry earned a CBEST test teaching credential.

DeVry University Palmdale will offer the school's bachelor degree programs in Business Administration and Technical Management as well as associate degree programs in Electronics and Computer Technology and Network Systems Administration. DeVry will offer degree programs year-round at the Palmdale location, allowing students to earn a bachelor's degree in three years or less and an associate's degree in as few as 18 months. DeVry University's Keller Graduate School of Management will also offer a number of master degree programs in business and technology. DeVry University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.
