Acacia Subsidiary Enters into Settlement and License Agreement with Matsushita and Its Affiliate Panasonic

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq: ACTG) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Screentone Systems Corporation, has entered into a settlement and license agreement with Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. and its affiliate, Panasonic Corporation of North America covering a portfolio of patents that apply to halftoning techniques used in printers.
This patented technology generally relates to methods for improving print image quality through the use of advanced signal processing techniques for transforming continuous toned images into high quality half toned images. This technology can be used in printing products such as high end laser printers and image setters.
