Theragenics Corporation® Sets Annual Meeting Date

BUFORD, Ga. -- Theragenics Corporation([R]) (NYSE: TGX), a medical device company serving the cancer treatment and surgical markets, today announced its Annual Meeting of Stockholders will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., Central Time, at Rosewood Crescent Hotel, Dallas, 400 Crescent Court, Dallas, TX 75201. The Board of Directors fixed the close of business on March 17, 2008, as the record date for the determination of the stockholders entitled to notice of, and to vote at, the meeting. It is anticipated that the Proxy Statement, Proxy and Annual Report on Form 10-K will be mailed to the stockholders entitled to notice of and to vote at the Annual Meeting on or around April 2, 2008. This announcement serves to satisfy the public disclosure requirement of the Annual Meeting of the Stockholders.

Theragenics Corporation (NYSE: TGX) operates two business segments: its brachytherapy seed business and its surgical products business.
