Axis Three Announces General Availability of the XS-300 Surgical Simulation Platform; Survey Results Substantiate Product Benefits
Business Wire, May 1, 2008
LOS ANGELES -- Axis Three today announced the XS-300 Surgical Simulation Platform, a powerful 3D imaging solution for the cosmetic surgery marketplace, is now generally available for shipping throughout the United States. The XS-300 offers breakthrough simulation technology that gives surgeons a simple, intuitive way to show patients what they will look like after breast augmentation surgery.
"We are very excited to be able to offer this product on a wider release," said Jim Blumel, CEO. "We have spent the past few months listening to our first users and their patients, and refining the features and functionality of the product. New software updates scheduled for the coming months will deliver substantial improvements and feature-rich applications that will revolutionize the consultation process for surgeons and patients."
The XS-300 Surgical Simulation Platform enables surgeons to visually communicate and collaborate on the outcomes of various breast procedures by using the patient's own image presented in photo-realistic 3D. For the first time ever, accurate volumetric and linear measurements can be taken from the patient's own 3D model, and the results of an actual surgery--breast augmentation, lift, reduction or reconstruction--can be simulated, measured, and viewed from all angles.
The results of recent patient surveys substantiate the compelling benefits of the XS-300. 94% of patients surveyed said the XS-300 "enhanced their overall consultation experience"; 88% said it "improved communication with their doctor"; 78% said it helped them "select the appropriate implant size"; and 74% said it "reduced their uncertainty with the outcome of the surgery." "I got to see what my body would look like after surgery and that helped me make the decision to have it," said one patient who elected to have the surgery.
Surgeons using the XS-300 have also found tremendous value in the product. "The XS-300 gives me more peace of mind that the patient has a good idea of what the implants will look like on her body," said Douglas MacKenzie, MD. "Also, the curiosity that this technology generates on my website has brought more consultations into my office." Kamran Khoobehi, MD, added, "During the first month of using the XS-300, we achieved a closure rate of 90%. This product enables me to build a stronger bond with my patients, reducing their pre-surgery stress."
Axis Three will be exhibiting at the ASAPS trade show in San Diego, California on May 3-6, 2008. Anyone interested in seeing a demonstration of the system and learning more about its capabilities is invited to attend.
