Business Wire, May 1, 2008
LOS ANGELES -- EMAK Worldwide, Inc. (OTC:EMAK), a leading marketing services firm, today announced the nomination of Debra Fine and Jordan H. Rednor to its Board of Directors.
The new Board composition will include seven members, of which five are independent. In addition to Fine and Rednor, independent directors are Howard D. Bland, Daniel W. O'Connor and Stephen P. Robeck, Chairman. The Board also includes Jim Holbrook, EMAK's Chief Executive Officer, and Jeffrey S. Deutschman, Board member representing Crown Capital.
Additionally, incumbent director Alfred E. Osborne, Jr., will not stand for reelection at EMAK's June 10 annual meeting of stockholders.
"Al has been an outstanding member of the Board for the past eight years, and I believe his contributions will benefit the company for years to come," said Robeck. "He has played an incredibly valuable role, helping to guide EMAK through many ups and downs. I and the entire Board express our sincere gratitude to Al for his counsel through the years and his friendship. We will miss him, but we are excited about the tremendous talent we have tapped to round out our Board composition."
Echoed Holbrook, "The entire management team offers its thanks to Al for his many contributions to our strategic and operating plans. We can't say enough about what a great Board member he has been. He will be missed."
"It has been a privilege to serve EMAK and I have the utmost respect and admiration for my fellow directors and the management team now in place," said Osborne. "The timing of my departure is based on my personal needs and not reflective of any company-related issues. I'm proud of the company's accomplishments and of the progress being made toward greater growth and profitability."
Debra Fine is a partner of Fineline Services where she is consulting with online media companies, consumer products and Private Equity funds. She brings to the Board 20 years of experience in digital entertainment, new media, educational resources, toys and packaged good products. Through 2007, Fine served as CEO, Chairman and President of Small World Kids, Inc., a publicly-held educational and developmental toy company, where she dramatically increased sales, distribution and profile of its acquired and legacy toy brands. From 2002 to 2004, Fine served as principal at EM Ventures (Venture Capital Fund) where she expanded the firm's involvement in technology and media-related business ventures. Earlier, Fine served in various marketing posts with Disney Interactive Products, Marketing Corporation of America and Orion Pictures. She holds a master's in business administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a bachelor of arts in journalism and advertising from the University of Southern California.
Jordan Rednor is President of Rednor Group Ltd., an international management, consulting and merchant-banking company founded in 2003. He is also a general partner in the Mentor Fund, a privately-held venture capital fund geared toward providing intellectual and financial capital to emerging marketing services companies. Rednor brings to the Board experience as one of the country's leading investment bankers to advertising and marketing services companies. He has successfully negotiated, structured and financed transactions for some of the best known names in the advertising industry and has facilitated a variety of mergers and acquisitions. In addition, since January 2005, Rednor has served as Chairman of Mr. Youth, a privately-held experiential marketing company targeting the youth market, and as a Partner in Protagonist, a boutique creative advertising agency founded in February 2008. Further, Rednor led the transformation of DraftWorldwide, a division of Interpublic Group, into an integrated marketing powerhouse as President between 1997 and 2002.
