"The state of Texas has four major cities that are extremely diverse in race, gender and orientation," said Dennis Kennedy, founder and CEO of the Texas Diversity Council, founder of DiversityFIRST[TM] and publisher of Texas Diversity. "My hope is that this magazine facilitates awareness of the value of diversity and inclusion as a business necessity, and that it serves as a platform for dialogue on inclusion and diversity-related issues that impact our state."

The inaugural issue of Texas Diversity will also include the first annual list of the Most Powerful and Influential Women in Texas. Based on submitted nominations and research conducted by the Texas Diversity staff, this list includes 36 impressive women leaders from corporate entities, higher education institutions and the public sector. In addition to having made major strides throughout their careers and significantly impacting their respective organizations, these women are committed to the well-being of their communities.

"We are proud to feature these outstanding women in the first issue of Texas Diversity," said Kennedy. "The 'glass ceiling' is still prominent in America, but it is important to showcase individuals, like the Most Powerful and Influential Women in Texas, that have broken through these kinds of barriers in their careers."

The first issue of Texas Diversity will be distributed at the fourth annual Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference, to be held May 14-16, 2008 in Houston.
