Alert Logic Completes SAS 70 Type II Audit
Business Wire, May 12, 2008
Independent Audit Demonstrates High Security Standards, Protection of Customer Data
HOUSTON -- Alert Logic, an award-winning provider of on-demand IT compliance and security solutions, today announced it has received a Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type II audit report.
This standard was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants to provide guidance to organizations that provide third-party services. The SAS 70 Type II audit demonstrates that organizations have controls relating to the processing or services it provides to its customers. Further, the SAS 70 report guidance articulates the requirements for assessing four items: the fair presentation of management's description of controls, the suitability of the design of management's controls, whether the controls are in place as of a specified date, and whether the controls operated with sufficient effectiveness to determine that management's control objectives were achieved.
The recently completed SAS 70 report articulates Alert Logic's processes and controls for achieving control objectives, specified by the management of Alert Logic, related to both physical security and electronic security.
"At Alert Logic, our most important goal is to maintain the security and integrity of our customers' data. Alert Logic continually strives to improve its processes and offer the most secure IT compliance and security solutions on the market," said Michael Turner, president and CEO of Alert Logic. "We opted for the more stringent Type II audit in order to demonstrate to our customers that we have the controls in place to protect their data."
Alert Logic obtained the report after Grant Thornton LLP, an international accounting firm, completed an independent assessment of controls over the company's business processes. The SAS 70 report may provide the clients of Alert Logic and their external auditors with relevant information relating to the effectiveness of controls over its IT compliance and security products, which are based on a Software-as-a-Service platform. Further, the SAS 70 report may be used by clients and their external auditors to better understand the internal controls in place at Alert Logic and the results of tests of those controls that would be relevant to the planning and performance of a financial statement audit.
