NI LabVIEW, CompactRIO and PXI Recognized for Technological Advancement and Innovation

AUSTIN, Texas -- National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) LabVIEW, CompactRIO and PXI platforms have received eight awards and honorable mentions from leading industry trade publications. Editors and readers from Control Engineering, ECN, EDN, EE Times, Electronic Products and Test & Measurement World selected LabVIEW 8.5, the cRIO-9014 embedded controller and the NI PXI Express mixed-signal products for their technological advancement and innovation.

LabVIEW 8.5 graphical system design software was recognized for its simplified approach to multicore and field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development, while the NI PXI Express mixed-signal products, which include the NI PXIe-5122 dual-channel digitizer, NI PXIe-1065 18-slot chassis and the NI PXIe-6537 and NI PXIe-6536 digital I/O modules, were selected for their signal recording and playback capabilities. The cRIO-9014 - a high-performance, real-time controller with a 400 MHz Freescale MPC5200 processor and a VxWorks real-time operating system - took top honors from EDN for its increased performance and reliability for embedded and industrial applications.

"Every year the difficulty of technical challenges increases, the pressures of schedule, cost, and energy efficiency grow, and the resources available to design teams dwindle. That makes the achievements of this year's EDN Innovation Award winners all the more impressive," stated Ron Wilson, executive director of EDN Worldwide. "Selected by their peers in the design community for their outstanding results, these innovators stand in the front rank of the best and brightest electronics engineering has to offer."

The awards received by National Instruments include the following:

* LabVIEW 8.5 - Control Engineering Engineers' Choice Awards, ECN Annual Technology Awards and EE Times Ultimate Products for Q4 2007

* cRIO-9014 - EDN Innovation Awards and EDN Hot 100 Products of 2007

* NI PXI Express mixed signal products - Electronic Products Product-of-the-Year, Test & Measurement World 2008 Best in Test (honorable mention) and EDN Hot 100 Products of 2007 (for the NI PXIe-5122 digitizer)
