Cabela's Kicks off Scarborough, Maine Store Opening at 5:00 P.M., May 15, 2008 with 18 Days of Grand Opening Events

SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear will celebrate the Grand Opening of its new 125,000-square-foot, large-format superstore in Scarborough, Maine, at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008. Eighteen days of festivities running through June 1 will feature Red Sox Hall-of-Famer Carl Yastrzemski (5/17); outdoor television personality Michael Waddell (5/15); Boston Red Sox pitcher Mike Timlin (5/15); Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Trent Cole (5/16); a kayak and canoe try before you buy pool (5/15-5/18 & 5/24-5/25), kids' fishing pond (5/24-5/25), as well as other celebrities and hunting and fishing experts sharing stories and advice.

Grand Opening giveaways and special prices on clothing and merchandise will also be offered. Customers can enter drawings to win a Maine Multi-sport Adventure; a Cabela's camping package valued at over $3,000; Major League Baseball tickets; a lifetime fishing permit; and a Cabela's Ultimate Outdoor Adventure, where the winner can choose between three legendary adventure packages.

In addition, on May 23-25, Cabela's Gun Library will display special firearms on loan from the National Firearms Museum that have been used in classic TV shows and feature films. The senior curator of the National Firearm Museum, Philip Schreier of the NRA and one of the foremost experts on firearms, will be on hand to talk about their history, models and lore. The display includes:

* Sharps rifle used by Tom Selleck in "Quigley Down Under"

* Colt Dragoon used by John Wayne in "True Grit"

* Winchester 1892 used by John Wayne as the Ringo Kid in the 1939 film "Stagecoach"

* Walker Colt used by Clint Eastwood as Josey Wales in "The Outlaw"

* Winchester 92 used by Chuck Connor in the TV classic "The Rifleman"

* Hawken used by Charlton Heston in "The Mountain Men"
