P2P Regulation from Patented NAC Solution Frees Network Bandwidth, Improves Compliance
AUSTIN, Texas -- Mirage Networks, developer of patented, full-cycle Network Access Control (NAC) technology, today announced that Indiana University Southeast has implemented Mirage's NAC technology to improve network uptime and availability by providing control over peer-to-peer (P2P) networking applications. The university deployed the Mirage NAC solution after IT staff noticed significant drains on network resources due to bandwidth-hogging P2P file sharing.

Mirage's behavioral monitoring can examine every packet from every endpoint, and identifies network traffic unique to P2P applications. Mirage associates the network activity with the responsible endpoint and can isolate the device until the user complies with network guidelines.
Mirage safeguards networks from threats by providing full-cycle Network Access Control. Its technology enables maximum network performance by controlling network access, monitoring network behavior, isolating non-compliant endpoints, and providing self-remediation capabilities. Mirage's network-based solution requires no agent software, deploys "virtually inline," and works in any environment.
"Unauthorized peer-to-peer file sharing is a serious concern for all organizations, especially colleges and universities," said Trent Fitz, vice president of marketing for Mirage Networks. "Many of the world's leading higher education institutions rely on Mirage to deliver an easy to deploy NAC solution that continually monitors endpoint traffic to pinpoint threatening or out-of-policy behavior, which can include illegal file sharing."
