Superpages.com Brings Local Search to Consumer Desktops with the Launch of a New Widget

DALLAS -- Superpages.com[R], a service of Idearc Media Corp., recently launched a Yahoo! Widget allowing consumers to easily search Superpages.com for local businesses from their desktops. Superpages.com made its widget more user-friendly, by developing one of the only local search widgets that conveniently displays search results within the widget.

Once a business is selected users are taken to Superpages.com where they can view business profiles, user reviews and maps.

When customized to a specific city the Superpages.com widget features the local weather and in select cities consumers will recognize their location by the city-specific skyline.

"The new widget extends the Superpages.com brand beyond our Web site and provides a new medium for our advertisers, much like our Superpages Mobile(SM) and Superpages Mobile(SM) for Blackberry([R]) applications," said Robyn Rose, vice president of marketing for Superpages.com.

Yahoo! Widgets is a free application platform for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. Consumers can customize their desktop and download widgets that provide commonly used services like the latest news, the current weather, a calculator, or even a language translator, among other things.

In 2007, Superpages.com saw an increase of more than two billion network searches from 2006 to over 4.8 billion network searches. In addition, Superpages.com had 17 million small-to-medium-sized business listings in the United States, more than 10 million of which featured enhanced content.
