New VDTLS Protocol Showcased at ITS Michigan 2008
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Telcordia will highlight its new Vehicular Datagram Transport Layer Security (VDTLS) protocol for vehicle networks at the ITS Michigan 2008 conference on May 13-14, 2008 in Novi, MI. Already being trialed, this newest development from Telcordia is helping to shape the future of vehicle communication networks.
The VDTLS protocol extends the Internet standard protocol DTLS and integrates a recent development in asymmetric cryptography, called Identity Based Encryption (IBE), to effectively address the unique challenges in providing secure communications in vehicle networks. These include a large number of mobile nodes, limited over-the-air bandwidth, unreliable, intermittent network connectivity, and privacy. This helps to achieve significant bandwidth savings and allows for quick establishment of secure sessions by reusing the security parameters of previous sessions.
The ITS Michigan Annual Meeting and Exposition on May 13 - 14, 2008 will demonstrate the latest innovations in Intelligent Transportation Systems technology and services. Telcordia will have a display booth in the Exposition where attendees can obtain additional info on Telcordia's telematics and wireless vehicle solutions.
Speakers from Telcordia will also play a key role in the ITS Michigan 2008 presentations and panel discussions. Dr. Adam Drobot, CTO & President, Advanced Technology Solutions, Telcordia, will provide the Keynote Perspective. Tao Zhang, Chief Scientist, Wireless Systems, Telcordia, will be a panelist in a session on the Connected Vehicle Proving Center. Drobot will also chair a panel discussion entitled "Information and Communication Technology and Automotive: Sharing the Wheel".
The Telcordia Advanced Technology Solutions organization identifies the critical issues of today and anticipates the challenges of tomorrow in information and communications technologies. Our Advanced Technology Solutions creates fundamental new technologies and capabilities to solve the hardest and most complex problems that can stand in the way of an organization's communications success.
