Business Wire, May 13, 2008
Companies will meet and listen to senior military leaders and gain up-to-date information on national defense
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- For the first time, the U.S. Naval Institute, the nation's premier independent forum on national defense, is offering memberships to corporations and private organizations that will make them part of the ongoing national security debate.
"This is a great opportunity for companies to get up close and personal with the decision makers," said Naval Institute Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager, Shannon Johnson. "As an independent forum that produces thoughtful periodicals, scholarly books, and stimulating conferences, our relationships with other organizations enable us to work together in protecting national security."

Corporate members will be invited to select events throughout the year, including USNI conferences where they will hear leaders of the nation's defense establishment discuss such issues as the Global War on Terror, recruiting challenges, caring for the nation's wounded, and military acquisition matters.
In June, for example, USNI is cosponsoring a conference in Virginia Beach, VA, where the speakers include:
* General James E. Cartwright, USMC, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
* General James N. Mattis, USMC, Commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command, and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation
* Admiral James G. Stavridis, USN, Commander, U.S. Southern Command

In addition to invitations to such conferences, corporate members will be recognized in Proceedings, USNI's award-winning monthly journal of the Sea Services, on the Institute's website (www.usni.org), and in other supporting materials. They also will qualify for discounts on advertising packages in Proceedings and its sister publication, Naval History.
Membership packages are offered at two levels and are renewable on an annual basis. Naval Institute Patron level (Tier 1) is $5,000 and Naval Institute Partner (Tier 2) is $10,000.
