Business Wire, May 19, 2008
New site debuts with forums, blogs, advice and fun
BOSTON -- Boston Globe Media announced today the launch of BoMoms (www.BoMoms.com), a new Web site designed by moms for moms. BoMoms provides original and highly relevant information for busy mothers in an engaging format that is fun, easy to navigate and practical. It is also a friendly place for Boston area mothers to connect and seek out parenting advice and opinions from their peers, or to share stories of their own.
The site can be accessed at BoMoms.com or through the Lifestyle section of Boston.com.

Alexandra Hall, editor of the site, said, "The goal of BoMoms is to be the ultimate local resource for busy moms - because all of its recommendations come straight from the mouths of real moms who have tried and tested them. It's a fun group of diverse personalities and voices, all of them helping each other to be the best moms they can be."
BoMoms was developed under the guidance of a panel of local mothers who believed there was a real need for a comprehensive site in the Boston area to help with the many facets of motherhood, from advice on products, health plans, education and parenting to places to go with kids to managing a household and a career. That group became known as the Motherboard and it will continue to be a part of BoMoms, offering suggestions and tips about products, events and more in a feature called Mom's Essentials.
To help moms looking for family-friendly activities, BoMoms features a comprehensive database of listings that is easy to search. The Things to Do section includes a complete calendar of events such as children's programs, parenting forums, local fairs, performances, and more - ranging from the very large to the very local. Users can submit their own events as well.
BoMoms.com visitors can talk to one another in ongoing forums on parenting topics, including finding good school programs, children's milestones, tips that really work, or even gripes about the day. They can also share their favorite photos on the Your Best Shots Photo Gallery. In addition, there is a variety of blogs written by mothers with different levels of expertise and viewpoints. The site will also draw upon news and information from The Boston Globe and Boston.com.
The launch of BoMoms represents another piece of the Boston Globe Media strategy of creating targeted media options for consumers and advertisers. In addition to serving the information needs of new mothers and mothers of young children, BoMoms hopes to attract advertisers from many categories who recognize the tremendous buying potential of this audience. BoMoms is the first of several on-line communities planned. In print, Boston Globe Media has recently launched three niche magazines: Lola, Fashion Boston, and Design New England.
