Telcordia Enhances Next Generation OSS With Dynamic Service Catalog
Business Wire, May 19, 2008
New Solution, Being Deployed at Easynet, Slashes Time to Market from Months to Days
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Telcordia is revolutionizing product and service lifecycle management with the launch of the Telcordia([R]) Dynamic Service Catalog, the newest enhancement to the Telcordia next generation OSS Fulfillment Suite. This latest investment by the market leading next generation OSS provider is already being deployed by Easynet, a pan-European data networks company owned by broadcast corporation BSkyB. The solution addresses the key issue that Communication Service Providers (CSPs) face today: dramatically reducing the time to roll out the variety of new services that customers demand while empowering them to select their own products and create their own bundles.
"As a leader in managed data services, our business depends on having a flexible approach to how we build our products and service offerings so that we remain able to respond to customer demand and deploy services quickly by selecting and deploying the best matched offerings from our catalog. The Telcordia Dynamic Service Catalog is a critical component in enabling Easynet to deliver a scaleable and flexible solution to meet these business needs," said Richard Jeffery, Head of Business Support Systems, Easynet.
The Telcordia Dynamic Service Catalog allows CSPs to rapidly construct completely new service offerings from a catalog of tried-and-tested product components. With advanced design tools, embedded business rules, and end-to-end automation across the supply chain, Dynamic Service Catalog significantly reduces the time and cost of service development and deployment and gives CSPs the potential to offer highly personalized services to a much wider range of customers.
"Telcordia's next-generation roadmap reflects the demands of the market to support enhanced customer and service experience, simplifying the rollout of complex new services, and enabling new efficiencies in pursuit of sustainable growth," said Larry Goldman, co-Founder, OSS Observer. "These are the key business drivers for all communications service providers."
Telcordia Dynamic Service Catalog consists of a unique combination of standards-compliant data modeling that drives the development of more product offerings and greater choice for CSP customers. It includes:
* Product Catalog - centralizes product definitions with extensible configuration, rules and policies to ensure consistent use of them across all BSS and OSS
* Designer - a GUI product designer with re-usable components that reduce time and cost to market
* Supply Chain Order Manager - integrates the entire supply chain from pre-order through to fulfillment
"In an age of increased industry consolidation, hyper-competition and hyper-growth the rules of the game have changed and CSPs must be able to conceive, create and deliver a continuously evolving range of products within a digital supply chain designed to enhance business performance and accelerate time to revenue," said Michael Anderson, President, Global Solutions, Telcordia.
"Telcordia remains committed to investing in and creating visionary, industry-changing next generation OSS capabilities that directly enhance our customers' ability to increase quality and speed while driving down time, costs and risk," Anderson added. "With the addition of the Dynamic Service Catalog, the best next generation OSS fulfillment solution in the industry just got better, giving CSPs complete control over the lifecycles of their networks, services and products and helping them derive real economic benefits."
Telcordia continues to be the recognized leader in the $1.174 billion global fulfillment marketplace. According to leading industry analyst firm Stratecast, Telcordia holds 25 percent market share - nearly double that of its nearest competitor. Telcordia has also been recognized as the global service fulfillment market leader by industry analyst firms OSS Observer and IDC.
