Business Wire, May 20, 2008
Data Warehouse Appliance Leader to Leverage Industry-Leading Storage to Capitalize on Expanding Market Opportunity
LAS VEGAS -- Data warehouse appliance leader Netezza Corporation (NYSE Arca: NZ) today announced an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partnership with EMC, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, to take advantage of the growing data warehousing marketplace. Netezza will include EMC's industry-leading CLARiiON network storage in its data warehouse appliance as part of an OEM partnership to deliver new appliance-based solutions that simplify business intelligence across the enterprise.
"EMC has a prominent position in the market for large-scale information storage and information management deployments and as a consequence, in Netezza's customer base," says Jim Baum, president and COO, Netezza. "This new partnership bolsters our capability to automate enterprise data management operations for our customers and will allow us to further increase our footprint in the market through co-marketing initiatives."
Netezza will combine the EMC CLARiiON AX4 network storage array into the Netezza Performance Server[R] (NPS[R]) data warehouse appliance to deliver configurations that address enterprise operational demands, yet require no increase in Netezza system or data center footprint. These innovative configurations will deliver near-line storage capacity and data staging capability for loading, backup and disaster recovery activities, allowing customers to stage large-scale data movement operations at the most optimal or efficient time. These configurations will be sold, delivered, deployed and supported as integral capabilities of the Netezza appliance.
"EMC plays a major role in managing the information that powers modern data warehouses, and we are pleased to have our industry-leading storage solutions integrated with the Netezza data warehouse appliance," said EMC's Chuck Hollis, vice president and global marketing chief technology officer. "By offering customers a flexible and scalable way to fundamentally simplify critical and complex data center operations, Netezza will provide a simplified way for customers to approach these functions."
"With data warehouses becoming mission-critical in the enterprise, the need for businesses to have integrated, cost-effective data backup, replication and disaster recovery solutions for their data warehouse systems is becoming more and more important," said Donald Feinberg, vice president and distinguished analyst, Gartner, Inc.
