Business Wire, May 22, 2008
JAKARTA, Indonesia -- Critical Path, Inc. a leading provider of messaging software and services, today announced that DEKOPIN, the Indonesia Cooperative Council, has selected Memova[R] Mobile as the official mobile email and information service for its members. DEKOPIN is the highest body in Indonesia representing cooperative organizations, with more than 130,000 cooperatives and 30 million individuals as members.
In an effort to minimize the digital divide and improve the competitiveness of cooperatives throughout Indonesia, DEKOPIN has launched an initiative to make information and communications technology more accessible. As part of this initiative, DEKOPIN is working with Critical Path, as well as regional mobile operators, to provide affordable mobile email and information services that its members can access from virtually any mobile phone. The services, which are being powered by Critical Path's Memova Mobile platform, will enable users to access email and other information services anytime, anywhere - from their mobile handsets.
"Critical Path is helping us provide a powerful new mobile service that will have a significant impact on the Indonesian economy," said Adi Sasono, Chairman, DEKOPIN. "Thanks to Memova Mobile, our members will now have on-the-go access to email and the information they need to conduct business. We are pleased to work with Critical Path, and we believe that Memova Mobile is an excellent platform to power these important new services."
With Memova Mobile, email messages and other business-critical information can be easily mobilized and pushed to the user's mobile phone. DEKOPIN cites a number of benefits for Indonesian cooperatives. For example, fishermen can have maritime weather reports pushed to their mobile phones, farmers can receive up-to-the-minute product pricing, and cooperatives of all kinds can share critical information via mobile email.
"We're pleased that DEKOPIN has selected Memova Mobile as the official mobile email and information service for Indonesian cooperatives," said Desra Ghazfan, Director, Southeast Asia, Critical Path. "There is an enormous demand for mobile email and information services in emerging markets, such as Indonesia, and we are excited to work with DEKOPIN to make these kinds of services more accessible to consumers and small businesses."
