XBRL Demystified, Business Advantages Explained for Publicly Traded Organizations, Financial Analysts, Brokers and Personal Investors
NEW YORK -- JustSystems, the largest independent software vendor in Japan and a worldwide leader in XML and information management technologies, today announced that its video, "XBRL in Plain English," is available on YouTube. Publicly traded organizations, financial analysts, brokers, personal investors, and others ready to have eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) demystified and learn about its business advantages can view the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F1E-2LkhW8.
"XBRL in Plain English" comes as JustSystems prepares for its June 5 webinar with EDGAR Online, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and XBRL International, "Readying for the XBRL Mandate: A Proactive Approach to Surviving and Thriving in the New World of Interactive Data and Financial Reporting." As the webinar title suggests, the upcoming SEC mandate to file financial reports in XBRL is pushing the technology into the limelight.
"Finance people aren't typically interested in low-level technology discussions," said Jake Sorofman, senior vice president of marketing and business development for JustSystems. "Financial people want to hear about better ways to do business. That's what XBRL is -- a better way to create, share, and distribute the financial information that drives business. In plain English, XBRL reduces costs, improves information access, and makes it possible to conduct near real-time financial analysis."
What does XBRL means to the masses?
* For public organizations, XBRL will keep companies out of trouble by allowing a standard and transparent way to file financial reports to the SEC and easily share that information from one person to another, one machine to another.
* For financial analysts and brokers, XBRL delivers the big picture understanding of how companies relate to one another with near real-time access to financial information and the ability to dynamically compare that information across different companies.
* For personal investors, XBRL delivers meaning and context of financial information for managing personal portfolios.
