Salary.com's Chief Operating Officer Yong Zhang to Address Graduate Students at UMass-Dartmouth Commencement Saturday, May 24
Business Wire, May 22, 2008
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Salary.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: SLRY), a leading provider of on-demand compensation and talent management solutions, announced today that Yong Zhang, the company's executive vice president and chief operating officer and a member of its Board of Directors, will address graduate students during UMass-Dartmouth's commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 24 as a distinguished alumnus. Zhang earned graduates degrees in physics and electrical engineering from UMass-Dartmouth in 1993 and 1995. Also delivering commencement speeches will be Dr. Onesky Aupont, a faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Master of Fine Arts candidate Jennifer Ling Datchuk.
In his role at Salary.com[TM], Zhang has played an instrumental role in designing and developing the company's portfolio of on-demand compensation and talent management products, including the market leading CompAnalyst[R] and TalentManager[R] applications. Zhang leveraged the software-as-a-service model to help provide companies of all sizes the easiest and most cost effective way to manage pay and performance. Today, customers can access accurate and reliable compensation and employee performance management software over the web without heavy investment in IT infrastructure.
In addition, Zhang helped combine content and software to build the largest, single source of accurate compensation market data inside the software application and is now expanding this same approach to include competency content to drive effective performance management. His technology thought leadership and management skills ensure that customers receive the highest level of security, flexibility and scale and that Salary.com's software is configurable to meet a company's unique pay and performance management practices. To date, nearly 2,800 enterprises - including 25 percent of the Fortune 500 - subscribe to Salary.com's award winning software. Zhang's efforts have helped Salary.com deliver 28 quarters of consecutive revenue growth, make the Deloitte FAST 50 and Inc 500 lists several years in a row and go public in February 2007.
UMass-Dartmouth's electrical engineering and physics departments' graduate students are trained to communicate effectively and lead in business and can adapt to and influence the future technological environment in response to industrial and global changes. Zhang's commencement address to students will focus on the most important criteria in evaluating future job opportunities due to changes in domestic and global business.
"In today's global economy, the best opportunities will allow students to make a positive global impact economically, politically and environmentally. If efforts focus on 'people' instead of 'money,' students will find a sustainable business or career with great personal satisfaction and tremendous financial rewards," said Zhang.
Zhang joined Salary.com in 2000 and today is responsible for process, methodology, technology and day-to-day operations of software-as-a-service innovation and delivery. Zhang focuses on customer implementation and professional services, enterprise product strategy, on-demand software architecture and product development, as well as data center and MIS operations. Zhang is also responsible for the company's global operations in an overseas subsidiary. Last year, Zhang was recognized as one of Greater Boston's business leaders and innovators by the Boston Business Journal in its annual "40 under 40 Awards."
Prior to Salary.com, Zhang successfully led and managed many e-commerce and enterprise product architecture, development, and launch projects for Iconomy.com, Smart Route Systems, Inc. and Center for Health and Human Services. Zhang earned his undergraduate degree from Shanghai University of Science and Technology in 1990. In addition to his graduate degrees from UMass-Dartmouth, Zhang holds a MBA degree from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and he is certified by WorldatWork as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP[R]) and a Global Remuneration Professional (GRP[R]).*
