Premier Mobile Speech Platform Provides BREW Developers with the Simplest Way to Enhance Applications with the Benefits of Speech
SAN DIEGO -- Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN), a leading provider of speech and imaging solutions, will showcase the Nuance Mobile Speech Platform 2.5 at the BREW 2008 Conference, May 28-30 in San Diego. The latest version of Nuance Mobile Speech Platform (NMSP) includes both performance improvements and new, easier integration tools designed to help BREW application developers simplify and enhance the mobile experience.
Nuance and its range or mobile solutions will be on display at Booth Number 415 at the BREW 2008 Conference. Also at the conference, Michael Wehrs, vice president of evangelism for Nuance, will be the featured speaker. The session - "Evolution of Mobile Devices - Does it Match the User?" - is Thursday, May 29th, from 2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m., in the Manchester A room.
Through a wide variety of application and device features, including advanced speech recognition, open ended dictation, and natural text-to-speech, the Nuance Mobile Speech Platform dramatically improves the usability of BREW applications, and specifically offers pre-built components for the following:
* Nuance Local Search - search business names and categories, residential listings, weather, dining and entertainment, movies, etc.
* Nuance Mobile Navigation - voice destination entry (including street addresses, businesses and points of interest) and natural spoken turn-by-turn directions.
* Nuance Content Search - search catalogs with millions of items in music, video, and games
* Nuance Mobile Web Search - search the Web in an unconstrained fashion from a mobile device.
"The Nuance Mobile Speech Platform lets the BREW community leverage a powerful but simple interface: the human voice," said Michael Thompson, vice president and general manager of mobile speech at Nuance. "Intuitive for every user, speech makes for a richer, more satisfying mobile experience. BREW developers, handset vendors and wireless carriers all benefit, because easy-to-use applications and features drive additional revenue and eliminate the frustration of navigating through complex menu hierarchies with small keypads."
