L2 Consulting Services, Inc. Certifies Wingspeed XLLink Flight Information Architecture on Boeing 747 Aircraft
Business Wire, May 29, 2008
AUSTIN, Texas -- L2 Consulting Services, Inc (L2) proudly announces that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the company's Supplemental Type Certificate for the Wingspeed XLLink Flight Information System. The STC (#ST10679SC) approves the L2 installation to provide voice and data communications utilizing the Iridium Satellite network on the B747-200 series aircraft.
"The ability to globally communicate, track, and electronically transfer data and documents via XFIA intrinsically lowers costs and is a major reason why industry leading airlines have selected the XFIA system", said Dave Borkowski, Wingspeed's Vice President of Sales.
The Wingspeed XLLink Flight Information Architecture (XFIA) is an airborne network platform that stays connected to an airline's ground network through a range of sub-networks such as VHF, the Iridium Satellite Network, Wi-Fi, and Cellular. XFIA manages these sub-networks automatically to establish the most cost effective means of data and voice transmission. The Wingspeed XLLink Flight Information System enables any aircraft to be a node on an information network, whether on the ground or in the air.
The STC approved configuration includes Triple Class II Electronic Flight Bags (EFB), Wingspeed Network Server Unit, Wingspeed Aircraft Communications Unit, Ritec Rugged Printer, Avionica miniQAR, and a cockpit Iridium Telephone Handset.
"We here at L2 are very excited to add another Iridium system certification to our portfolio, especially one as flexible and end user friendly as the Wingspeed system. We look forward to expanding our customer base through the adoption of this STC and the operational efficiencies it represents", said Mark Lebovitz, President of L2.
