High-performance Network Infrastructure Enables Spanish Cable Provider to Quickly Deploy Innovative, High-quality Services at Scale
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that TeleCable, a leading cable TV and Internet provider in Spain, has deployed a new application-aware network based on Juniper Networks M-series multiservice routers and MX-series Ethernet Services Routers. TeleCable has upgraded its metro network to a service-enabling Juniper infrastructure to improve the user experience for its broad range of voice, television and mobile services. The new network will also provide the scale, capacity and operational efficiency to support new and increasingly demanding internet services and applications, while fueling growth opportunities for TeleCable.
"To maintain existing customers and win significant new business in an increasingly competitive marketplace, TeleCable needed to invest in a converged, intelligent infrastructure capable of delivering innovative, premium applications and services with a superior user-experience," said Jesus Perez, chief technical officer of TeleCable. "The Juniper Networks MX960 is the most advanced Carrier Ethernet platform on the market on which to base our services, and will enable us to quickly deploy innovative, high-quality services, at scale, while reaping significant operational savings to fuel profitable growth."
TeleCable is one of Spain's largest cable providers, and offers a range of television, video, data and telephone services throughout Northern Spain. The company also delivers high-quality business-class services to high-performance enterprises, and recently received a license to operate as a mobile virtual network operating and now offers a range of mobile services in addition to its wireline services.
The new metro Ethernet network will leverage the MX-series' proven MPLS capabilities, which greatly simplifies the provisioning and management of Carrier Ethernet networks without relying on unproven or pre-standard technologies. The Juniper Networks MX960 ESR is the largest capacity Carrier Ethernet platform available in the market today, delivering up to 960 Gbps of switching and routing capacity and optimized for emerging Ethernet network architectures and services. Both the MX960 and M320 leverage the same, single-source JUNOS software, enabling TeleCable to reduce costs and benefit from consistent feature implementation across multiple portions of its network.
"Service providers are looking for ways to monetize their networks by expanding and accelerating service model innovation," said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice president of operations, EMEA, Juniper Networks. "The M- and MX-series can enable providers such as TeleCable to fuel growth by increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty with innovative multiplay services while maintaining operational simplicity and high network performance, reliability and security."
