Emiliem Expands Management Team With Industry Veterans Donna Romero and Diane Beuving

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Emiliem, Inc., a privately-held biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering and developing novel molecular targeted therapeutics announced today that it has filled two key R&D positions on its management team.

Donna Romero, Ph.D. joins Emiliem as VP, Chemical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Development with over 20 years of experience in leading and supervising medicinal chemistry and drug discovery project teams across disciplines and therapeutic areas at the Upjohn, Pharmacia, and Pfizer pharmaceutical companies. Most recently, she was Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Pfizer St. Louis Laboratories in the cardiovascular and inflammation therapeutic areas. While at Pharmacia, she was a Director of Medicinal Chemistry in CNS and Infectious Diseases. She also led the Bacterial Genome Team pursuing novel strategies to exploit the bacterial genome for the discovery of antibacterial agents with novel mechanisms of action. While a scientist at The Upjohn Company, she invented Rescriptor[R], a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor currently marketed for the treatment of HIV.

Diane Beuving, M.S. joins Emiliem as Director of Project Management with over 20 years experience in project management and leading exploratory and full development teams in the Upjohn, Pharmacia, and Pfizer pharmaceutical companies. During this time she contributed to the development and regulatory approval of 16 marketed products in a wide range of therapeutic areas. Additionally, she has several years experience in international regulatory affairs and business development. Most recently she was Director, Global Project Management for Pfizer Michigan Laboratories.
