ZyIMAGE Information Access Platform and Implementation at the U.S. Agriculture Department, National Agricultural Library Recognized for Knowledge Management Achievements
MCLEAN, Va. -- ZyLAB, an innovative developer of Information Access Solutions, today announced that it is a finalist in KMWorld Magazine's annual awards program in both the KM (Knowledge Management) Reality and KM Promise categories. These two awards are designed to celebrate the success stories of knowledge management. ZyLAB submitted its implementation with the U.S. Agriculture Department, National Agricultural Library for the KM Reality Award and its ZyIMAGE Information Access Platform for the KM Promise Award.
The KM Reality award recognizes an organization in which knowledge management is a positive reality. The recipient of the KM Reality award is an organization demonstrating leadership in the implementation of knowledge management practices and processes by realizing measurable business benefits. In 2007, ZyLAB's customer, The United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials/Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia received this high accolade. This year, ZyLAB has nominated the U.S. Agriculture Department's National Agricultural Library (NAL). NAL launched the NAL Digital Repository (NALDR) using ZyLAB's ZyIMAGE system to provide access to the full text of selected United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) publications. The new site is available at: http://naldr.nal.usda.gov/.
> This implementation has been installed for several years, but NAL continues to invest in technology and content, and continues to build it out with full support for the USDA management. The KM Promise Award is given to the organization that is delivering on its promise to customers by providing innovative technology solutions for implementing and integrating KM practices into their business processes. The award-winning organization demonstrates how it goes beyond simply delivering technology to working with clients to ensure that both the technology and knowledge processes are embedded into the work processes. The ZyIMAGE Information Access Platform (IAP) is a finalist in this category.
The ZyIMAGE IAP a complete XML-based system that provides a robust foundation for the archiving and long-term management of organizations' critical information assets, including digitized paper documents, electronic files, e-mail and attachments, and multimedia. The IAP's comprehensive core technology enables users to find, access, and organize specific data through a standard browser in a quick, easy, and secure fashion. Users can add additional modules to create the exact, cost-effective solution they require for specific types of projects or business processes including records management, e-discovery, email archiving, knowledge management and workflow.
"Being selected as a finalist in both of these very prestigious awards categories demonstrates that we not only have innovative technology but we also have customers that are using it to improve internal and external business processes," said Dr. Johannes Scholtes, President of ZyLAB North America LLC. "The solution at NAL is rapidly becoming a model solution for other Federal Agencies and the actual solution continues to grow year over year as their needs expand. Our proven technology is flexible and scalable to support very small and very large enterprise needs such as those at NAL."
