Merlin Secures Contract with Battelle National Biodefense Institute to Support National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center
Business Wire, Oct 14, 2008
WASHINGTON & DENVER -- Merlin International, one of the fastest growing public sector systems integrators in the United States, announced it has secured a contract with Battelle National Biodefense Institute (BNBI) to procure, install, and develop a content management system. Merlin will provide an enterprise-wide, integrated information management solution to accommodate the management of BNBI documents, records, compliance, and improvement actions to manage the risk of bioterror and bio crime in the United States.
The Battelle National Biodefense Institute manages and operates the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC), based in Maryland, for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). NBACC, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center, is the first national laboratory established by the DHS Science & Technology Directorate. Part of the NBACC's mission is to understand the scientific basis of the risk posed by biological threats and to protect human health and agriculture against biological terrorism by improving understanding of potential bioterrorism threats.
"Fighting the threat of bioterrorism is an essential part of our nation's defense," said Mark Zalubas, vice president/CTO, Enterprise Solutions Division, Merlin International. "Due to the danger posed by these agents, following the latest approved procedures is imperative. Well-organized and accessible enterprise content management is therefore an essential part of ensuring the success of that mission. Merlin's expertise in information systems coupled with our past engagements with the Department of Homeland Security enables us to provide BNBI with the right foundation and scalability for their enterprise content management needs."
Merlin will assess data requirements and limitations as they relate to BNBI program objectives and will craft a content management solution that addresses these immediate needs while remaining flexible to new and changing needs in the future.
Merlin has developed an elite team with extensive experience and proven success in developing Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions through the company's work with other federal agencies, including the Defense Information Systems Agency ("Internal Applications"), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS Portal"), and the Veterans Affairs ("Veteran's Benefits Reference System").
