Willing to Pay More Per Month for Maps and Directions than Other Mobile Services
BOSTON -- The Strategy Analytics Wireless Media Lab service has released, "Consumers are Willing to Pay for Their Mobile Devices to Show Them the Way," which shows that mobile navigation is the primary service for which consumers in the U.S. and Western Europe would be willing to pay a relatively high fee per month compared to other mobile services.
These findings are based on a survey of over 2800 wireless device owners in the U.S. and Western Europe. The survey showed that mobile consumers are also willing to pay extra for multimedia messaging, mobile browsing, and email.
"Strategy Analytics research shows that almost half of all respondents would be willing to pay for navigation services on their mobile device," commented Chris Schreiner, Senior User Experience Analyst at Strategy Analytics. "This desire for mobile navigation services is prevalent across all age ranges in both regions."
Kevin Nolan, Vice President of the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice, added, "Navigation services on mobile devices represent high revenue opportunities for carriers, and may signal a desire for more location-based services."
