City University of Seattle to Host Global Collaboration in Higher Education Events

Higher Education Leaders From Around the Country To Join Discussions on Global Education
BELLEVUE, Wash. -- City University of Seattle will be hosting a week-long series of events centered on the globalization of higher education. The events, which will be held between October 28, 2008 and October 31, 2008 in Seattle and Bellevue, Wash., will bring together thought leaders from universities around the world to highlight trends in the internationalization of higher education.

Time: All day
CityU President Lee Gorsuch and Chancellor of CityU's international division Fernando Leon Garcia welcome international partners from Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Mexico, Chile, Slovakia, and Switzerland.
* City Club of Seattle Luncheon, Forum on "Education for a Global World of Competition and Collaboration" (public event)
Wednesday, October 29, 2008, Red Lion Hotel, Seattle, Wash.
Time: 11:30am-1:30pm
Barry Mitzman, Seattle University professor of strategic communications, will facilitate a roundtable discussion with university presidents on "Education for a Global World of Competition and Collaboration." Lee Gorsuch from CityU, J. Michael Adams from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Elson S. Floyd from Washington State University, will examine the challenges and opportunities posed by the increasingly international demographics and competition impacting our region's schools.

* American Council on Education (ACE) Regional Meeting on "Venturing Abroad: Overseas Branch Campuses and Programs" (public event)
Thursday, October 30, 2008, Doubletree Hotel, Seattle Airport, Seattle, Wash.
Time: 8:00am-4:30pm
The ACE regional meeting will highlight successful examples of U.S. institutions involved in offering programs and campuses abroad. The panels will examine the implementation process and the ongoing efforts needed to maintain and deepen programs abroad. Presentations will involve case studies from Europe, Asia/Pacific, and the Americas.
