CCAGW PAC Endorses Chris Hackett for Pennsylvania's 10th District
Business Wire, Oct 15, 2008
WASHINGTON -- The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) today announced its endorsement of Chris Hackett for Congress in Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District. Mr. Hackett is running against incumbent Rep. Chris Carney.
"Chris Hackett is a true fiscal conservative who has pledged to reduce the size of government by working to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse," CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz said. "He understands the critical need to end Congress's addiction to spending and earmarking." In contrast, Rep. Carney received a vote rating of 15 percent from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW). A member of Congress with a rating less than 20 percent makes him a big spender and "hostile" to taxpayers.
Mr. Hackett has signed the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Earmark Reform Pledge. The pledge features ten principles designed to bring increased transparency and accountability to the spending process. Rep. Carney voted against a year-long earmark moratorium in the House that would have given members time to reform the process. In fiscal year 2008, pork-barrel spending ballooned to 11,612 projects costing $17.2 billion.
In his CCAGW PAC Candidate Questionnaire, Chris Hackett pledged support for taxpayer-friendly initiatives such as budget and earmark reform, tax cuts, a Taxpayers' Bill of Rights, and the line-item veto. Mr. Hackett's experience as a businessman, entrepreneur, and Certified Public Accountant give him the skills necessary to tackle some of Washington's biggest spending problems.
"Chris Hackett has the ability to lead Congress to improve the future economic outlook. America needs leaders who say 'no' to the continuing spending and pork-fest in Washington. Chris Hackett will work in the best interests of Pennsylvania's 10th District and taxpayers nationwide," Schatz concluded.
CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGW PAC's mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
