CCAGWPAC Endorses Sen. John Sununu for U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON -- The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGWPAC) today announced its endorsement of Sen. John Sununu for reelection to the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire.

"Sen. Sununu has served the citizens of New Hampshire with distinction and has an outstanding record of fiscal discipline and fighting on behalf of all taxpayers," CCAGWPAC Chairman Tom Schatz said. "We are confident that his strong leadership abilities and longstanding fiscal conservative values will continue to guide his agenda as he seeks another term."

Sen. Sununu has received a lifetime rating of 89 percent from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW). A member of Congress with a rating greater than 80 percent qualifies as a "Taxpayer Hero."

Sen. Sununu was at the forefront in trying to prevent the financial crisis the nation is experiencing today. "For years, there were warnings that the government-sponsored enterprises, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, were taking reckless chances with subprime loans and tax dollars. In 2003 and 2005, Sen. Sununu supported legislation that would have established more oversight and regulation to these semi-private corporations. Unfortunately, too many in the Senate did not listen to him. The nation now sees the result of their inaction," stated Schatz. "Now, like the fox guarding the henhouse, those that opposed the reforms are now in charge in Washington. More than ever, we need taxpayer heroes like Sen. Sununu in Congress watching over them," declared Schatz.
