CCAGW PAC Endorses Tom McClintock for California's 4th District

Business Wire, Oct 15, 2008

WASHINGTON -- The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) today announced its endorsement of state senator Tom McClintock for Congress in California's Fourth Congressional District. Sen. McClintock is running against Charlie Brown.

"Tom McClintock is a true fiscal conservative who has pledged to reduce the size of government by working to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse," CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz said. "He understands the critical need to end Congress's addiction to spending and earmarking. His opponent is proposing more government to fix the nation's problems - that means taxpayers will pay."

Mr. McClintock is the only candidate for the Fourth Congressional District in California to sign the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) Earmark Reform Pledge. The pledge features 10 principles designed to bring increased transparency and accountability to the spending process. In fiscal year 2008, pork-barrel spending ballooned to 11,610 projects costing $17.2 billion.

Mr. McClintock's experience as a state senator gives him the skills necessary to tackle some of Washington's biggest spending problems. In 2007, CCAGW endorsed his plan to define the word "tax" in the state constitution and require a two-thirds approval by the state or local governing body in addition to approval by the voters to increase taxes. That same year, CCAGW endorsed Mr. McClintock's "Bureaucracy Realignment and Closure Act of 2008," a mechanism to eliminate wasteful and unnecessary bureaucracies in the state of California.

"Tom McClintock has a long history of fighting for taxpayers and has never wavered in his efforts to cut taxes and wasteful spending. He has the ability to lead Congress to improve the future economic outlook. America needs leaders who say 'no' to the continuing spending and pork-fest in Washington. Tom McClintock will work in the best interests of California's Fourth District and taxpayers nationwide," Schatz concluded.

CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGW PAC's mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
