washingtonpost.com Breaks Traffic Record in September

Over 323 Million Page Views; Up 42% Over 2007
WASHINGTON -- washingtonpost.com, an award-winning news and information Web site, broke its traffic records in September with over 323.3 million page views, a 42% increase over September of last year, and nearly 27% higher than the previous record of 272.5 million page views.
The best performing areas of the site were politics, up 233% over last year, and business, up 141% over last year. Top performing blogs include The Fix, The Trail and PostPartisan. Pulitzer Prize-winning business reporter Steve Pearlstein also had some of the most-read stories on the site.
"These numbers show that washingtonpost.com is not only a top destination for political news in this historic election year, but that we are a trusted source for information on the Government's impact on business," said Jim Brady, Executive Editor, washingtonpost.com. "In addition to the popularity of our reporting on politics and business, our video and photo galleries also saw a steep increase in use this month."
Over 1.4 million videos were played, up 162% over the same time last year. Among the best performing videos were Dana Milbank's "Rough Sketch" political video series and the live video coverage of the Democratic and Republican conventions.
Leading up to the election, washingtonpost.com will continue to provide a wide range of features, including the Debate Decoder (washingtonpost.com/debates) and the Political Browser (washingtonpost.com/browser), that give more ways to find information and analysis about the 2008 presidential race.
