Apptis Names Yolanda Cruz Vice President, Strategic Planning for its Defense & National Security Sector

CHANTILLY, Va. -- Apptis Inc., a leading IT and communications services provider to the federal marketplace, today announced that Yolanda Cruz has joined the company as Vice President, Strategic Planning, Defense & National Security Sector. A retired Air Force Colonel, in her new position at Apptis, Cruz is responsible for identifying strategic business development opportunities for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), United States Air Force and other Department of Defense accounts. She will report directly to Joseph "Skip" Nowland, President and General Manager, Defense & National Security Sector.

"Her knowledge and expertise from years of service in high ranking positions within the Air Force and the government are invaluable. Prior to joining Apptis, Cruz served in the Air Force on the Joint Chiefs of Staff as the J6 Chief, Director's Action Group and the Chief of the Assured Information Sharing Division. During her tenure she assisted in publishing the National Military Strategy for Cyberspace Operations, a military framework for conducting cyberspace operations and the foundation for building cyberspace capabilities in support of national defense and homeland security to improve net centric operations for the Department of Defense. Additionally, Cruz has held positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency as the Acting Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and the Deputy CIO. Cruz is a graduate of Air War College and Air Command and Staff College with an undergraduate degree in mathematics and a master's degree in management.
