U.S. Department of Defense Selects 21CSI to Support Multiple Department-Wide Applications

Breakthrough technology will be integrated into DoD enterprise services

ARLINGTON, Va. -- 21st Century Systems, Inc. (21CSI) announced today that it has been awarded a $7.43 million contract by the United States Department of Defense to supply its Webster-Agent Case Expert (ACE) technology for use in the department-wide federated web system. The contract will fund the extension of 21CSI's powerful Webster-ACE technology, expanding it from its current customer - the US Strategic Command's Joint Information Operations Warfare Command (JIOWC) - to enterprise availability across the DoD.

21CSI will adapt Webster-ACE to operate on multiple DoD networks and be accessible to a broad audience via the Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Net Centric Enterprise Services (NCES). Webster-ACE will provide military users with an enhanced decision making capability, leveraging advanced "agent-based" software technology for improved intelligence awareness with greater certainty and integrity of the associated analysis.

"21CSI expects Webster-ACE to ultimately provide a multitude of capabilities to DoD decision makers and analysts including frontline war-fighters and planners, combat support personnel, and business logic specialists," commented Larry J. Solecki, 21CSI's Webster-ACE program manager, upon award of the contract.

Webster-ACE is a set of versatile software applications which allows military users to discover, connect, and visually present seemingly unrelated information in support of intelligence and information operations. Its design allows for customized use and supports the NCES goal of providing adaptive IT tools that can readily expand to a much larger user group, the so-called community of unanticipated users and uses. Once fully operational, Webster-ACE will leverage the existing software system to provide search models, collaboration tools, and data characterization, filtering, and planning services via the Global Information Grid (GIG).

"The award of this contract is further evidence that agent-based software is needed and can provide significant benefit to the US warfighter," said Jeffery D. Hicks, Chairman and CEO of 21CSI. Mr. Hicks concluded, "It also illustrates the breadth of 21CSI's technology which we have developed internally from concept to operational use. 21CSI looks forward to bringing Webster-ACE into other DoD as well as commercial markets."
