Business Wire, Oct 20, 2008
WASHINGTON -- International law firm Jones Day announced that William V. O'Reilly has rejoined the firm as a Washington office partner. He left the firm, where he served from 1986 through 2005, to serve as Chief Counsel and Staff Director of the Ethics Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2006 to 2008.
"We are very happy to have Bill back," said Mary Ellen Powers, partner-in-charge of Jones Day's Washington office. "He was an important part of the Washington practice, and his congressional experience will undoubtedly enhance his and the Firm's ability to represent the Firm's clients on a broad range of matters."
In his government role, Mr. O'Reilly was responsible for managing the Ethics Committee's oversight and investigative responsibilities, as well as coordinating ethics education and training by Committee staff. He also spoke frequently on congressional ethics issues at conferences and seminars.
Mr. O'Reilly's practice focuses on complex litigation in the areas of antitrust, contract and other commercial disputes as well as corporate criminal, governmental and congressional investigations. A graduate of the University of Virginia (J.D. 1986; Editorial Board, Law Review; B.A. 1980), Mr. O'Reilly is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.
