BIO Issues Call for Paper and Panel Submissions for 2009 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing

WASHINGTON -- The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) invites leaders from the biotechnology, chemical and agricultural industries to submit proposals for panels and individual papers for the 2009 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing. This unique conference will be held July 19-22, 2009 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Now in its sixth year, the conference will move to its largest venue to date, Le Palais des congr[c]s de Montreal (the Montreal Convention Centre). The annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing is the only conference dedicated solely to industrial biotechnology and the most recent advancements in the field.
The call for papers and panels opens on Oct. 20, 2008 and the deadline is Dec. 12, 2008. Thought leaders from the biotechnology industry, academia, and science community are invited to submit proposals for the following program tracks:
1. Biofuels and Bioenergy Technologies 2. Renewable Feedstocks and Sustainability 3. Renewable Chemicals and Biomaterials 4. Fine Chemicals, Food Ingredients, Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care 5. Business Development, Infrastructure and Public Policy
Proposed papers and panels should address any in a range of topics, including biotechnology for climate change, advanced biofuels, energy from algae, microbial fuel cells, biopolymers, renewable chemical platforms, fine chemicals from biomass, health and personal nutrition, food ingredients and flavorings, fragrances and cosmetics, pharmaceutical manufacturing, biomass pre-treatment, use of agricultural and forestry residues, new energy crops, feedstock collection, cell wall modification, enzyme development, synthetic biology, or new business models.
