Blade Server Infrastructure and Contextual Search Tool Earn Recognition
NEW YORK -- Volt Information Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: VOL), a global provider of technology infrastructure, information-based services and human capital solutions, today announced that it has been named to the 2008 InformationWeek 500 list of the nation's most innovative users of information technology. Volt improved its year-over-year ranking from #37 to #21 on the list. This is the eighth consecutive year that Volt has been named to the InformationWeek 500.
Volt achieved recognition for implementing emerging technology in blade server infrastructure at its data center, allocating blade servers configured with Virtual Machines to run its entire non-production environment. The blades running VM's increase sharable storage operate at a fraction of the cost of standalone servers, and the Company anticipates achieving future significant energy savings. In addition, the Company received recognition for its enterprise search capability, Contextual Search. Using its proprietary software tool, called VoltTrack, and implementing a capability to use artificial intelligence-based statistical and mathematical models, the software matches words in the context of customer job descriptions and quickly and easily searches a database of millions to find the candidate who best fits a customer's staffing requirement.
Steven Shaw, President and CEO of Volt Information Sciences, Inc. commented, "Contextual Search offers a powerful and precise solution to assist our clients in acquiring the right talent at the right time. Each year, Volt continues to embrace and deploy emerging technologies that create value for our clients, enabling them to adapt with speed and agility to global market forces. I applaud our Information Technology Organization for their diligence and hard work in achieving this prestigious recognition."
