Cubellis' Thomas P. Baglivo, AIA, NCARB, Appointed National Peer to U.S. General Services Administration

Business Wire, Oct 24, 2008

PHILIDELPHIA -- Cubellis, an international architecture, interior design and engineering firm, is pleased to announce that Thomas Baglivo, AIA, NCARB, Principal, Architecture and Interior Design has been appointed by GSA's Commissioner of Public Buildings to serve on its National Register of Peer Professionals for the Design Excellence Program.

GSA commissions architects and engineers to design new buildings and to modernize existing facilities for civilian federal agencies that need workspace. To select the best designers and produce top-quality design, GSA instituted the Design Excellence Program. The program utilizes the experience and expertise of private-sector design professions, i.e., peers, to help identify the most appropriate, creative design team for projects and review their design concepts to ensure the best design solutions.

Established in 1994, the Design Excellence Program has changed the course of architecture in the Federal Government by streamlining the architect/engineer selection process to make it inclusive and to focus on talent--not expertise in filling out Government forms. Administered by the Office of the Chief Architect, the Design Excellence Program has engaged many of the finest architects, designers, engineers, and artists working in America today to design the future landmarks of our nation and to ensure that the Federal Government's existing buildings remain productive workplaces for federal employees and continue to serve the American people.

"It is an honor to be appointed to GSA's National Register of Peer Professionals and be associated with a program that recognizes and celebrates the creativity and diversity of the American people," said Thomas. "I look forward to playing an integral role within the Design Excellence Program, serving as a "peer" and helping to make sure that decision-making discussions--from selection through project development--are focused on design excellence and the communities we serve."
