Software Expert to Discuss How Geospatial Mapping Technology is Being Used to Help JPAC Find Missing Soldiers
VIENNA, Va. -- NJVC, one of the largest information technology solutions providers supporting the United States Department of Defense (DoD), announced this week that Joseph Mortati, founder of GTG Consulting and a well-known expert in the software industry, will be hosting a technology presentation in the NJVC exhibit booth #428 at GEOINT in Nashville, Tenn., to demonstrate how an application using GeoIntel MapBooks is being currently deployed to help the DoD Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) resolve cases of missing soldiers.

"We are honored to have Joseph join us at GEOINT," said NJVC President and General Manager Jody Tedesco. "He is providing tremendous support to JPAC to help the families of missing soldiers obtain answers and his presentation will provide great insight on how the technologies available today can be applied to generate important, critical solutions for customer challenges."
Mortati will be hosting his presentation in the NJVC exhibit booth #428 Oct. 28 through 30 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Specifically, his demonstration will show how he supported JPAC's efforts by using the GeoIntel MapBook to provide families of missing soldiers with a better understanding of what happened to their loved ones. By analyzing forensic and historical evidence from JPAC and applying state-of-the-art technology such as GeoPDFs to build levels of data into interactive maps and graphs, Mortati was able to create books that review all known facts, provide hypotheses and present conclusions about the missing person.
"My experience in supporting JPAC was unique but GeoIntel MapBooks can be applied to many different environments and solve a variety of mission-specific needs," said Mortati. "It's a wonderful tool that is ideal for secure networks and allows for collaboration between different groups of people, regardless of geographic location, saving companies time and resources."
The GeoIntel MapBook implements the GeoPDF format, performs all tasks currently done with paper maps, allows users to work collaboratively online or offline and can include text, imagery, video, 3-D CAD models, terrain models, hyperlinks, and more. Also, many different work environments can benefit from GeoIntel MapBooks as it allows users to copy data into Microsoft Office applications, leverage existing map and imagery archives, insert seamlessly into other PDF documents and create digital map overlays.
Mortati graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1984 and established his own consulting firm, GTG Consulting, in Reston, Va., in 2002 to assist information technology (IT) and business managers to operate more efficiently and increase their return on investment.
