BIO Announces Venue for 2009 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing

Business Wire, Oct 29, 2008

WASHINGTON -- The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced today that it will host the 2009 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing July 19-22, 2009 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Now in its sixth year, the conference will move to its largest venue to date, the Palais des congr[c]s de Montreal (the Montreal Convention Centre). The annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing is the only conference dedicated solely to industrial biotechnology and the most recent advancements in the field. The conference web site is www.bio.org/worldcongress.> Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO's Industrial & Environmental Section, said, "The World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing has grown into the premier event for leaders from the biotechnology industry, academia, and science community. Last year, more than 1,200 scientists, business executives, and government officials attended the Congress to present technological advances in industrial biotechnology for biofuels, biobased products, fine chemicals and food ingredients. To accommodate the rapid growth of the meeting, the Congress for the first time will be held in a convention center venue."

The call for papers and panels is now open, with a deadline of Dec. 12, 2008. Speakers are invited to submit proposals for the following program tracks:
