DHS Awards Contract to National Interest Security Company for Infrastructure Protection
Business Wire, Oct 3, 2008
FAIRFAX, Va. -- A contract to assist the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in protecting the nation's critical infrastructure, information technology, and communications infrastructure has been awarded to Technology & Management Services, Inc. (TMS), a portfolio company of National Interest Security Company, LLC (NISC).
The 24-month, $8.2 million contract is to support the DHS National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) in business operations and planning. NPPD has two major responsibilities - Infrastructure Protection (IP) and Cyber Security and Communications (CS&C).
IP identifies threats, consequences, and vulnerabilities, as well as mitigation strategies, for the nation's critical infrastructure - physical or virtual assets in areas such as energy, agriculture, and industries whose damage or destruction would have serious national consequences.
CS&C has the mission of assuring the security, resiliency, and reliability of the nation's cyber and communications infrastructure, in collaboration with the public and private sectors and international partners.
"TMS is pleased to have been selected to provide support to this critical mission," said TMS President Keller Staley. "We will dedicate all resources necessary to assist NPPD in reaching their goals and sustaining the trend toward greater efficiency and responsiveness."
NISC CEO Andrew Maner said the award "is a testament to the dedicated customer service our employees already provide to DHS." TMS began its relationship with the agency in 2003, supporting the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Assurance, which eventually became part of DHS. "We look forward to supporting NPPD over the next two years under this contract."
TMS is a full-service management consulting firm that for 30 years has provided a comprehensive range of technical, management, and analytical support services to federal government clients. It is an affiliate of NISC, a leading provider of information technology, information management, and management technology services to the U.S. intelligence community and other government agencies.
Headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, NISC is a company dedicated to providing innovative information technology, information management and management technology consulting services/solutions in support of the national interest and security to the Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense and to the Homeland Security, Energy, Federal Health, and other critical federal civilian sectors. NISC has approximately 1,000 employees, of which the majority hold significant security clearances. For more information, visit www.nisc-llc.com.
