Mintz Levin Expands CPSC Practice Group
WASHINGTON -- Quin Dodd, who most recently served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has joined Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo's Consumer Product Safety Commission Practice Group in the Washington D.C. office. The addition of Mr. Dodd will allow the firm to better serve its clients affected by the recent passage of the landmark product safety bill.
Mr. Dodd has a broad range of experience working in legal and legislative practice and advocacy in Washington, D.C. He was founder and principal of the American Capitol Group, a government affairs firm and has practiced law in the Washington, D.C offices of Bracewell & Giuliani, LLP and Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. Mr. Dodd also served as legislative director for U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas and as legislative counsel for the late Congressman Joe Skeen of New Mexico.
"The recently enacted Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) contains historic new mandates, requirements and potential liabilities for the dozens of industries and thousands of companies that make and sell consumer products. While we have been working with clients in the consumer product and retail sectors for many years and advising them on issues relevant to the CPSC, Quin's experience with the agency and intimate involvement in crafting the CPSIA provide tremendous additional insight into what these new provisions mean and what companies and trade groups will have to do to avoid the many potential pitfalls posed by the new law." said Chuck Samuels, a Member who heads the firm's CPSC Practice Group. "We believe with the combined experience of the dozen-plus members of the CPSC practice, and the addition of Quin, that we can provide our clients with the highest level of service in the rapidly evolving landscape of product safety regulation and enforcement."
Mr. Dodd earned his B.A. with distinction, from the University of New Mexico and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center. He is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and New Mexico.
