Dick Armey to Visit Oregon Highlighting Importance of Pocketbook Issues in Election
Business Wire, Oct 7, 2008
FreedomWorks continues the Campaign for Affordable and Reliable Energy (CARE) in the final weeks leading up to the November election
What: Chairman of FreedomWorks and former House Majority Leader Dick Armey will visit Portland to support www.LightsOnOregon.com and the Campaign for Affordable and Reliable Energy as well as attending a rally with grassroots activists. Armey will also discuss the importance of sound economic policy to promote real growth ahead of the November election. Voters will have a clear choice between lower taxes and limited government on one side, and billion dollar bailouts and higher taxes on the other.
Who: FreedomWorks Chairman and former House Majority Leader Dick Armey and FreedomWorks Oregon State Director Russ Walker.
When: October 8th, 2008; 6:30PM--8:00PM
Where: The grassroots event will be held at the Holiday Inn of Wilsonville (25425 SW 95th Ave, Wilsonville, OR 97070)
Why: FreedomWorks Oregon has invited Dick Armey to visit and discuss the impact of energy policy on Oregon families. Unfortunately, too often sensible energy solutions are blocked by anti-energy extremists opposed even to developing renewable energy sources such as geothermal, wave, hydro, natural gas, and wind. FreedomWorks Oregon launched the Campaign for Affordable and Reliable Energy (CARE), a major grassroots and media campaign promoting the development of clean, affordable, and reliable sources of energy and also exposing how anti-energy radicals are opposed not just to energy development, but to our modern way of life.
With the economy heading into a recession, the pocketbook issues of taxes, high energy prices, and restraint in the growth of government. With Washington throwing hundreds of billions of dollars around in bailouts and giveaways, taxpayers need watchdogs at all levels of government to protect their interests.
Across the country and in Oregon, families are facing tight budgets. If Americans are taking a hit, then government needs to cut back and focus on priorities. People are tired of politicians spending their money on wasteful projects, like earmarks, but it is especially egregious when it is done during more difficult financial times.
FreedomWorks is a grassroots organization with over a half a million members nationwide and over 30,000 activists in Oregon dedicated to lower taxes, less government, and more freedom.
