Tatum's A. James Forbes, Jr. Joins AARP Board of Directors

NEW YORK -- Tatum, LLC today announced that A. James Forbes, Jr. will join the AARP Board of Directors, where he will serve until 2014. He previously served as chairman of the audit and finance committee and as treasurer on the board of directors of the AARP Foundation. Forbes currently serves as a partner with Tatum, a leading executive services and consulting firm.

As a member of the AARP board, Forbes will aid in monitoring the finances and approving the budget of the association. He will also help oversee many of the policies, programs, activities and services for the AARP's more than 39 million members. Forbes' other duties will include helping to shape AARP's state and national legislative policy agenda and setting policy that guides its strategic plans and activities.
Forbes, a partner in the New York practice of Tatum, LLC, has a significant career which includes serving as the executive vice chairman and chief financial officer of international, emerging growth and companies requiring turn-around in the not-for-profit sector, as well as biomedical, home healthcare, information management, maritime and automobile segments within the for-profit sector.
He holds a degree in Accounting from Manhattan College, and he has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and volunteerism by the BEACON Foundation, the YMCA and his parish church.
Forbes was chosen from a large pool of AARP members and nonmembers across the country. An independent nomination review committee evaluated the submissions and sent their recommendations to the then current board for approval.
