American Airlines Purchases Fair Isaac Xpress-MP To Meet Complex Decision Management Challenges
Business Wire, Sept 23, 2008
MINNEAPOLIS -- Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE: FIC), the leading provider of analytics and decision management technology, today announced that American Airlines has agreed to purchase an enterprise license of its Xpress-MP suite of modeling and optimization tools.
Xpress-MP is designed to help organizations solve large-scale optimization challenges and make critical resource allocation, asset management and scheduling decisions. It includes a set of advanced tools for users to develop their own optimization models.
"As the operator of one of the world's most advanced airline networks, American Airlines faces large-scale, enormously complex optimization challenges that have to be solved within very tight time constraints," said Dr. Andrew Jennings, chief research officer, Fair Isaac. "We are pleased that American Airlines concluded that the combination of Xpress-MP, Mosel, Xpress-Application Developer and Fair Isaac's support is a great fit to their long-term decision optimization needs. That's a powerful endorsement."
The quality of Fair Isaac's customer support and the superior development tools built into Xpress-MP were cited as key factors in American's choice.
"Decision management is a critical function in our business, where we handle dynamic scheduling and resource allocation for nearly 250,000 passengers on some 4,000 flights every single day," said Armando Silva, Managing Director Operations Research, American Airlines. "We require a sophisticated modeling environment and need optimization solvers to be available to support the business. Xpress-MP will allow us to meet today's challenges and will provide us an innovative and flexible platform available for our future needs."
American Airlines is recognized globally among airlines for its innovation, extremely challenging optimization problems, and consistently breaking new ground in Operations Research.
