Business Wire, Sept 3, 2008

September 24-25 Event to Present Case Studies on the National Environmental Publications Information System and Large, Complex DHS Organization

MCLEAN, Va. -- ZyLAB, an innovative developer of Information Access Solutions, today announced that it is sponsoring the first annual Zy-IMAGEnation Summit, taking place September 24-25, 2008, at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, Virginia. The theme of the conference is "Where Operational Efficiency Lives - The Confluence of Records Management, e-Discovery, and Knowledge Management." At the event, attendees will hear case studies on how the National Service Center for Environmental Publications (NEPIS) and one of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) largest and most complex organizations have implemented information access solutions to capture, archive, and search content.

This two-day event will focus on practical, best-practice methodologies and solutions for managing an organization's accumulated knowledge, including records and e-mail management, e-discovery preparation and implementation, forms recognition, and workflow. Attendees can attend best-practice seminars from leading information access professionals; participate in interactive sessions about the procedural and technical enhancements driving new levels of operational efficiency in private and public sectors; and enjoy a networking reception and riverboat dinner cruise on the Potomac, followed by Casino Night to celebrate ZyLAB's 25th anniversary.

The NEPIS case study (presented at 1:30pm on September 24) will focus on the search and retrieval solution that powers the National Environmental Publications Information System (NEPIS) to help users locate information in over 11,000 documents; equating to over one million pages. NEPIS began in 1997, to offer one-stop shopping for full-text, on-line documents that include a wide range of documents, from home owners guides to research documents. This repository grows on a regular basis as documents are continuously scanned into the system. The site is located at http://nepis.epa.gov.

The DHS case study (presented at 3:00pm on September 24) will provide insight into the challenges this large and complex organization faces in managing and storing information, particularly paper documents, as well as the strict security requirements they must follow. The case study, presented by AITHERAS, a leading enterprise solutions consultancy focused on electronic document management, testing, regulatory validation and compliance, will give attendees a snap-shot of the day-to-day operations and what it takes to manage information on such a vast scale.

The schedule of events is broken into two days. Day one will offer attendees a collection of industry experts and end-user speakers who will share their extensive knowledge on how information access technologies can be applied to enhance an organization's overall efficiency, productivity and information security. Day two will offer attendees access to numerous learning sessions led by experienced technology practitioners focused on fully-integrated, user-friendly information-access solutions. Attendees will not just be shown how a particular solution works, but will also be introduced to a fully documented operational methodology (including quality control, auditing, reporting and performance measures) that can be applied to any organization.

Other speakers at this event include George Socha, founder of EDRM (Electronic Discovery Reference Model), who will discuss "Understanding EDRM and the e-discovery guidelines and regulations that protect your businesses and minimize legal costs" and Craig Reeves, President and CEO, Ambit Solutions, who will give an overview of integrating email, paper and electronic file archiving with voice over IP (VOIP) technology in typical local and state government back-offices.

"This event is dedicated to providing attendees with actionable information that they can use within their own organizations for managing content and meeting various compliance and e-discovery requirements," said Dr. Johannes Scholtes, President, ZyLAB North America LLC. "We are pleased to provide attendees with case studies on the NEPIS and DHS that demonstrate very different challenges and solutions that each addressed by implementing information access solutions."
